Cornhusk figurines represent the many sides of peasant life: their work, play, religious customs, celebrations, etc. The true beauty of the cornhusk doll is found in its simplicity. All cornhusk figurines are hand-crafted from dried corn husks. After the corn silk is removed, the leaves are carefully washed and dried in the sun. Before forming the husks into figurines, the leaves are dampened a bit to make them more pliable and if color is used, the leaves are dyed at this point. After the doll is finished, it is completely dried again and worked in such a way that the structure of the leaves stays visible. The corn silk is dried and used to make hair for the dolls.

Most cornhusk dolls are 5" to 6" tall and some styles are also come in color.
