Wiring technique combines two old Slovakian folk traditions; egg dying and tinker's trade. The beginning of tinker's trade in Slovakia(part of former Czechoslovakia) dates back to the 18th century as poor but skilled men traveled the world seeking trading opportunities. To compete with other tradesmen, tinker traders using wire, created useful and beautiful articles, repaired pottery and ceramic items, and of course, decorated eggs. This tradition disappeared decades ago, but has been rejuvenated a few years ago by two artists who decided to study the technique and start a comeback.

Color and designs may vary. All hen eggs are sold in a set of 5 pieces.
